Can Control is one of the first graffiti magazines published. Founded in Los Angeles by friends and graffiti writers CHARLIE & POWER in 1987 as Ghetto Art before rebranding to Can Control in 1990 with POWER taking the reins. It served as both communication network and illustrative bible of graffiti, with its internationally distributed issues full of photos and interviews.
Through the 90s and early 2000s, having your work appear in Can Control was a major moment for graffiti writers. The issues instantly became collectors’ items, being bought, stolen, passed around by friends until they were falling apart and often confiscated by authorities. Can Control helped define and spread the graffiti culture for over twenty years.
Long out of print and hard to find, the oversized, hardbound Can Control compendium spans 1987–1995, is 400 pages, and weighs over 7 lbs. It features all the issues from that period, many scanned directly from the paste-up boards, along with bonus ephemera, behind-the-scenes outtakes, and other unseen gems straight from POWER’s camera.

ABOUT TIM TRACY / POWER
POWER is a graffiti writer, photographer and founder of renowned graffiti magazine Can Control. Growing up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, POWER started writing through the punk rock scene in the early 80s and stayed active for 20 years. His life’s work of documentation and publishing provided an outlet for artists globally. He has lived in Seattle with his family since 1995.
